Spring Street Salt Shed

EDC's Reinforced Concrete Products Help Shape a NYC Salt Shed

Project Overview

EDC was chosen as the reinforced concrete solutions contractor for a NYC Department of Sanitation salt storage facility on the Hudson River in Manhattan. The building is approximately 6,000 square feet and was completed in 2015. The structure has since become a recognized piece of New York City's industrial waterfront architecture, distinguished by its crystalline, faceted exterior and architectural uplighting at night.

EDC's Role

EDC provided reinforced concrete products and specialty shoring systems for the construction of this signature NYC infrastructure facility. The building's outward-sloping thick concrete walls and faceted crystalline exterior form required precision forming and shoring solutions to achieve the building's distinctive geometric shape. EDC's work contributed directly to the accurate realization of the structure's architectural and functional design.
